Why Productivity Doesn't Matter

May 22, 20244 min read

"I wish I had more hours in a day."

"I wish I could get more done."

"Where did the time go?"

If you go to bed each night exhausted to your bone and energetically drained, yet still find yourself thinking this at the end of most days, keep reading. Because this one’s for you!

First off, let me make something very clear. Having a running to-do list, no matter how hard you try to check things off your list or almost always feeling behind on tasks, doesn’t make you:

Unproductive

Or slow.

It only makes you HUMAN. Each of us – no matter what stage of business we are at – is trying to do our best with our unique personalities, attention spans, and stamina.

The definition of productivity for one person can be a definition of INSANITY for the other. Not all of us resonate with the idea of 5 am routines, cold baths, intense morning workouts, or 12-hour work days.

Some of us are happy to have slow mornings, a hard stop to our 5–7-hour workday, and lots of family time. So, the idea isn’t to aim for peak productivity, push through tasks, and make every moment count by optimizing our daily routines.

The idea is to spend the little time we have strategically and intentionally because it’s not the productivity that matters, TIME MATTERS.

If, as a growing business owner, you want to have:

  • A solid Lead Generation System

  • An air-tight Sales Process

  • A repeatable Content Marketing System

  • A Brand Voice & Ethos Playbook for your team

  • A top-notch Client Fulfillment Process

  • Hiring & Firing Protocols for your team

But you're constantly wondering why you don’t have the “TIME” to do it, here are a three reasons why it’s happening.

Three Reasons Why It's Happening

👉 Reason 1: Sometimes, it's because you're the QUEEN (or KING) of underestimating the time required to perform specific tasks, so what you thought would take a few hours at best ends up consuming your entire day.

👉 Reason 2: Other times, you take action based on sporadic energy bursts and go into 'inaction' mode when you're not feeling excited.

👉 Reason 3: And most of the time, it's because you're being a perfectionist or trying to micromanage every single thing.

While it might seem harmless overall, you have no freakin' idea how the lack of time management leeches on your growth.

So, what does it look like to plan your week and days for success?

Here are some things you can do to get started:

#1 Track Your Time, Not To-Dos

Understanding where your time is going is crucial to create your desired flow. Instead of focusing solely on completing tasks on your to-do list, track how you spend your time throughout the day. This will give you insights into your habits, patterns, and areas where you can make improvements.

#2 Identify Your Biggest Time-Wasters

Take a close look at your daily activities and analyze where your time is being allocated. Are you spending too much time on non-essential tasks? Identifying time drains can help you prioritize effectively and allocate your energy where it matters most.

#3 Set Up Your Week for Success

Planning ahead is key to a successful week. Take some time at the beginning of each week to set clear goals and priorities. Organize your tasks and schedule them strategically to ensure a balanced week ahead.

#4 Plan Your Perfect Day

Visualize your ideal day and plan it accordingly. Consider what tasks and activities are most important to you, and structure your day to maximize efficiency and well-being. Whether it's setting aside time for focused work, uninterrupted family time, or relaxation, create a daily routine that aligns with your goals and values.

#5 Create a Calendar that Works for YOU

Your calendar should reflect your unique needs and preferences. Whether you prefer digital or paper-based planning, customize your calendar to suit your workflow and lifestyle. Incorporate features such as time blocking, reminders, and flexibility to accommodate unexpected changes and maintain efficiency.

By mastering your time, you can take control of your schedule and finally get the things done that you’ve been wanting to do for SO long.

Remember, it's not about overworking in the name of productivity—it's about using your time wisely to create the life and business you desire. You got this!
